David Bamberger

Johnson City | Rancher

Over the course of 50 years, Mr. Bamberger has restored Selah, a badly abused tract of some 5500 acres located in the Hill Country of central Texas. He has managed to recover natural spring flows, bring back native grasses and other plants, protect the endangered Scimitar-horned Oryx, and explore ways of expanding bat populations. As well, through the Bamberger Ranch Conservancy, he has helped educate children and adults, city dwellers and ranchers, about the need to be a good steward of the land. The Conservancy has also acted as a host for a number of meetings among conservation groups, along with providing grants to a variety of schools and environmental organizations.
